I. Love. The Ren Faire.  I attended my first one in first grade and have been doing my best to go every year since. It’s just magic. The level of commitment to embodying the Renaissance is unparalleled (I’m guessing because tbh, all I know about the Renaissance is what I’ve experienced at the Ren Faire) It’s an incredibly immersive and silly day, full of turkey legs, jousting, and saying “ye old…” a lot.

It feels so carefree. There are shows and singing all day. And people really go all out.  Often the lines are blurred between who’s working and who’s attending and you talk to everyone.  You can practice your knife throwing and archery, and stop by several palm reading and tarot tents.  You can purchase a silver goblet or a drinking horn or a medallion engraved with your spirit animal. Play games, laugh, have an ale or seven.

My favorite thing though is for sure the costumes. I’ve pieced together a few decent ones over the years, but now I usually rent one when I get there. It gives the day more drama, and I can’t lace myself into a corset as well as they can do it for me there.  It’s the one time of year you can actually tell I have boobs, so I really take advantage of that, and get em pushed all the way up to my chin basically. ANYWAY here’s all of my pictures from this years Ren Faire- #thatssorenaissance 2018.
